Solar energy is the light and radiant heat from the Sun that influences Earth's climate and weather and sustains life.It is known that solar energy can provide many things for use for example, heat engine or photovoltaic means, daylighting and space heating in passive solar, hot water, thermal energy for cooking, and high temperature process heat for industrial purposes.

- The amount of sunlight that arrives at the earth's surface is not constant(weather conditions).
- A large surface area is required to collect the energy at a useful rate.
